‘Expect The Unexpected’ Recipe Range My home made cows milk free chocolates in 20 minutes!

Having read through countless recipe books, one thing that occurred to me was that ‘real life’ busy parents really are in need of quick tasty recipe’s with a short list of ingredients and lets face it..minimal washing up:)

My home made cows milk free chocolates can be made in 20 minutes. Better still these contain no refined sugars, oils or dairy and with first and foremost children in mind, there are no nasty cravings or crashing out after 1-2 pieces of chocolate. The health benefits of pure cacao (which I’ll go into more depth in a later blog) outweigh any brought chocolate. I can honestly say I’ve found my 3rd love and not gone back to ‘normal’ chocolate!

The above picture was my first attempt..so If I, with a general attitude of loving a one bowl cook lol!..anyone can!!

Makes 12 pieces

60 g Cacao butter

3 Tablespoons of Cacao Powder

1 Dessert spoon of agave syrup/maple syrup/coconut nectar

Quarter of a pinch of fine salt

For all you happy campers 🙂 you’ll know what I mean when I say to heat the cacao butter over a bain-marie. (in a glass bowl placed over a saucepan of boiling water) until melted.

Using a balloon whisk-whisk in the cacao powder followed by agave/maple or coconut nectar.

Add the salt and whisk well.

Pour mixture (which I’m sure will be smelling amazing) into moulds. I used rubber trays from the £1 shop. You could use silicone cake cases or even plastic ice cube trays.

Pop in the freezer for a minimum of 15 minutes or longer.

To store..though I’m hoping you’ll all be finding it too scrumptious! But ..you can wrap in cling film and store in the fridge/freezer to use as and when. I’ve used it grated as chocolate sprinkles over cakes and dairy free ice cream.

As always…I’m still playing around with ingredients, while I do not want to endorse huge salt content in children’s diet;  From my time spent in Australia ironically surrounded by salt (though not the edible kind) I am exploring the use of Murry river pink salt/himalayan rock salt for those who like myself are looking for trace minerals to aide in their little ones diets/mineral/vitamin absorption.

A lot of parents have given me feedback in that they themselves loved this chocolate, felt it being quite rich for little ones, though I can say my 4 yr old loves these! After 2 pieces..he’s happy 🙂 I am working on an almond/coconut milk version..so please do stay with me.

That’s it! Please don’t be scared to play around with the ingredients..fruit and nuts can be added pending on taste. Please do feel free to leave me a comment, I’m more than happy to answer any questions and would love to know how you and/or your little ones get on.
